Happily Ever After?

Meek, filled with valour,
Proceeding in candour,
He approaches this wonder,
On a path with no meander;

A rose, sweetly and truantly,
He presents perfectly-
To his mistress rare and lovely,
A token prize not untimely.

She grimaces, blushes,
Wafts her eyelashes,
and barters with hushes,
kisses and future flashes.

They soon are wed,
To live happily and bed
each other till dead.
Where is Valentine’s dread?
